George
Sangmeister was elected to Congress in November 1988. He was one
of only eight new members to unseat an incumbent. He was
re-elected to the House in 1990 and again in 1992. He retired in
January of 1995.
While in Congress, he served on three House Committees; Public Works
and Transportation; Veteran's Affairs; and Judiciary.
In more than 30 years of public service, Sangmeister has held office
in every branch of government. He began his public career as a
Justice of the Peace and Magistrate of the
He is married to Doris (Hinspeter) Sangmeister. He has two
children -- Kurt and Kimberly; and has four grandchildren – Jordan,
Cole, Keegan and Kinzie.
